Federal Student Issues
In July 2009, one of the most exciting pieces of financial aid legislation in recent history - the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act - was introduced in Congress. The Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act expands the Pell Grant program by increasing the amount of money available in the Pell Grant program and provides for cost of living increases to the Pell each year. If passed, the bill would be the largest investment in student aid in history. The act also cuts the interest rate on subsidized Stafford loans and gives money to community colleges. Look for opportunities to contact your members of Congress this fall about this important piece of legislation!
