State Budget

The state budget is directly related to the affordability and accessibility of higher education in Arizona, as the amount of money the state appropriate to the universities often impacts tuition and the total cost of attendance.

FY10 Budget Update
As of August 20th, a budget was given to Governor Brewer for Fiscal Year 2010.  The budget cut $40 million from Arizona’s public universities.  It did not include a sales tax referral, which has been a sticking point in the budget negotiations between the legislature and the Governor.  The Governor has until Wednesday, August 26th to either sign or veto the various budget bills.  The legislature will reconvene on Tuesday to deal with any further budget issues, including any deals the Governor may strike in her meetings with leadership.
